So I considering switching to Piped, but I'm wondering if the views (or other metrics) are counted on Youtube itself. I don't like the idea I'm kinda "robbing" the content creators I enjoy...

I think I know the answer but would like to know for sure.

This is one of my videos with 0 views, try watching it, I'll comment tomorrow with if there are any views on it

I've let it play for more than one minute through Piped, let's see what happens.

Neither video has views still, science works!

Yay for science. Is it possible that it would be on a delay? Probably not but I have no idea how this works so I rather ask.

Nah, if there is a delay it's very minor, I've uploaded videos and had views showing up within minutes

Great idea, thanks for doing the experiment.

Played most of the vid, doesn't seem like it'd register though.
