Thanks for the honest answer homie. Me asking you these questions is a form of me trying to work out those internal discriminations. I was writing out a whole long question about something but then it kinda clicked. The only reason the author even mentions being trans here is because it's relevant to the context. In every day life it's not and they wouldn't, they would call themselves a woman, because that's what they are. That makes sense man. It's not the first time I've had this revelation either lol, hopefully it'll stick and it'll be the last time I have to remember.

That last statement, just read a really cool comic that illustrated that call eugenisis or eugenic. If you like comics you should check it out, don't let the name scare you, it's good.

One of the texts that made things click/unclick for me was Simone de Beauvoir, Second Sex. Just the first few paragraphs of the introduction made me rethink a lot of things.

De Beauvoir asks, what is a woman? When you realise most of the ways that women have been defined in (white, bourgeois) patriarchal society are inconsistent and contradictory, the 'traditional' view of women starts to unravel. De Beauvoir hands you a strand of the old woollen jumper of gender; if you pull it, the jumper falls apart.

I want to give you props for asking a genuine question and learning from it, but I also have some gentle criticism to give. You referred to TomboyShulk as “they” a couple of times in your post. It’s good etiquette to try to use people preferred pronouns, so in this case you should use “she” instead of they.

We’re pretty serious about this here since one of the core values of hexbear is being aggressively pro-trans. Please don’t take this criticism as an attack though, and please continue to ask any questions you have. We’ve got tons of smart people that can help explain anything else relating to the trans experience

Asking sincere questions is cool and good and you can typically get thoughtful answers (not always correct, but thoughtful) on any leftism question you have on the c/askchapo comm.

Yo, it's cool if we sometimes slip into old habits, or the patterns of thinking that have been reinforced on us by society for years. As long as you stay sincere, curious, and act out of care, that's way more important. We can help you out as many times as you need.
