The term "African safari" was used to tell you the specific destination. "Safari" as a general term can include any expedition to hunt or observe animals.

You could have an American safari if you were from outside of the Americas, for example. Or an Indian safari, Australian safari, etc etc etc it's defined by the purpose and length of travel, not by going to Africa.
