I didn't realize she was a game developer - that makes it worse lol. I just assumed she was a random freeze-gamer.

Especially with the "generic middle-aged white man" bit. Are there even many popular games where the protagonist is middle-aged? It's usually a young adult or teen protagonist. Then her proposed alternative is a pretty common, especially with games like Witchbrook and Songs of Glimmerwick coming out soon (no shade on these games, they look really cool).

I might be misunderstanding what middle aged is. I'm thinking like 40-50 something year olds.

Last of Us, God of War, MGS4+5 -> yeah, these are some middle age dudes.

RDR 1+2 -> borderline, they can count, though

MGS 1+2+3+peacewalker -> too young to be middle aged

I don't play a lot of military shooters, but my impression is that the protagonists for those tend to be 20 somethings. That might be a misunderstanding of the genre on my part, though.
