Please, just watch One Piece. Maybe I can finally have a conversation in person about it that way

bugs-no it is too long. Clearly it is much more reasonable for you to watch Legend of the Galactic Heroes...

[-] Beaver@hexbear.net 19 points 11 months ago

I was going to make a joke about it being a thousand episodes, but I didn't realize it was literally a thousand episodes

[-] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago

I look forward to One Piece passing the Simpsons as the longest running show by episode number

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 5 points 11 months ago

it's already longer by like 300 episodes lmao. the simpsons takes breaks

[-] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 18 points 11 months ago

I'm working on it 😭

Or better yet, read one piece and you can read all of it in 2-3 months in a conservative estimate.

I want to talk about my funny pirates comic fooey!!!

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 8 points 11 months ago

my friend watched the entire anime in like 2 weeks. idk how

[-] Alisu@hexbear.net 14 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

1000 episodes at 20 mins is 20000 min, which is almost 14 days. So he watched it with no breaks and no sleep for 2 weeks straight.

Probably used One Pace or found a list to skip filler

[-] Alisu@hexbear.net 8 points 11 months ago

One Pace is pretty good, and does reduce it a lot, but still, that's way too much anime for two weeks

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 12 points 11 months ago

Probably had to watch it on some weird accelerated playback setting (x1.2, x1.5?). That's the only logical explanation I can think of.

It's happened to several comrades I know online. I suppose if you get hooked on One Piece, you get VERY hooked.

[-] CriticalOtaku@hexbear.net 7 points 11 months ago

Can attest. Up to ep 431 atm. Show is really bingeable because the cliffhangers hook you and the plot twists REALLY stick.

Tbf it helps alot to use an anime filler list to skip filler, and that each episode is really only about 20 mins long once you skip past the openings and recaps.

[-] WhyEssEff@hexbear.net 5 points 11 months ago

finished the manga in two weeks side-eye-1

[-] TraumaDumpling@hexbear.net 2 points 11 months ago

this is probably only a dub issue, but in the one episode i watched the english dubs gave one of the villains the most annoying voice i have ever heard in my entire life, and i refuse to watch any more of it to avoid exposure to that godawful high pitched laughing frankenstein guy.

[-] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago

I won't sawthat the One Piece dub is perfect or anything but that's probably intentional since One Piece really leans into being a comedy, arguably even more than Dragonball does

That said if you can get past that the show is great and if you watched the DBZ dub as a kid you'll recognize some familiar voices

[-] the_post_of_tom_joad@hexbear.net 3 points 10 months ago

But if i keep watching subs i can continue with my head-canon that one piece is the fever-dream and power fantasy of krillin in response to being overwhelmingly outmatched by goku when they were once equals
