I think Checo has done just enough to secure second place in the standing. Assuming P1 is blocked by Max for the remaining two races, that's only 38 possible points for Lewis. He's 32 behind currently. Checo just has to not pull another Mexico and score 7 points in two races. And that's not even accounting for other drivers like Lando that are likely to steal points from Lewis.
He'd only have to equal Hamilton on points to be ahead, so 6 points assuming Max or someone other than Hamilton wins the races. Perez has more race wins (2 to 0).
True. The fact that we're even having to do the math is ridiculous, he should be easily 100+ points ahead.
