Youtube hands down. Youtube is the best dad, best teacher, biggest information hub, and arguably the best meme generator in existence. The fact i can dive into any type of video content and come out feeling like i gained so much is incredible.
But it's not free. You pay for it either with money (premium) or your eyeballs (ads). Not to mention the analytics data.
Depending on how you look at it then yes its not free. Though you could use something like Libretube to prevent both ads and any form of analytical data from being collected.
Though other alternatives like revanced manager prevent ads and give premium benefits. Not sure about the analytical instance of it though.
Revanced stopped working for me awhile back. I use newpipe now.
I wish I was able to log in with newpipe. Other than that it’s a great app.
Same, it would make it perfect.
Im able to log into revanced with newpipe?
What? How?
Dirty rip from old post
This one is for non root users, and the guide for root users is at bottom.
After you install it, you'll have to turn on the new youtube layout in the settings as it's turned off by default. All sources below would be official ones, if you encounter any problems feel free to comment down.
Here goes:
Download and install microg(ignore this if you already have it installed) https://github.com/inotia00/VancedMicroG/releases/tag/v0.2.25.224113-224113003
Download and install Revanced Manager https://github.com/revanced/revanced-manager/releases/tag/v0.0.40
Download the supported youtube apk(17.44.35) but don't install it for now. https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/youtube/youtube-17-44-35-release/youtube-17-44-35-android-apk-download/
Launch Revanced Manager and go to settings. In advanced section, select sources and change patches organization and integrations organization to 'inotia00', tap ok and restart Revanced Manager. Here's the reference if you guys want: https://imgur.com/gallery/pWwWdLY
5)Now go to patcher section in Revanced Manager, tap on select an application then tap on storage at the bottom right and select your downloaded yt apk from step 3.
6)Then go to select patches and choose as you see fit. Mandatory patches are micro g support and sponsorblock. As for my recommended patches here's the list: https://imgur.com/gallery/dQNWjEG
7)After deciding on patches, hit patch and install. After that open your app, sign in and add your account.
8)Enjoy :)
**Don't forget to select custom branding icon and custom branding name if you wish to have a different name for the app which is Revanced Extended by default.
**If you change your mind about a patch later on, you'll have to uninstall the current one and repeat from step 5 again.
**For root users, when patching please exclude microg support and custom package name from patches. Dev recommends installing detach magisk module after patching (to prevent automatic updates).
That's all enjoy your Revanced Extended and special thanks to the developer u/inotia00 :)
You can use piped instead.
https://piped.video/
Its built on opensource. A youtube frontend without tracking, ads etc.
YouTube hardly classifies as free.
I haven't paid a cent for YouTube in my life. Wouldn't that mean it's free?
You either pay for the product or are the product.
This sentence was so used while being wrong because of free software
there's free as in beer, and free as in speech
You just have to curate the auto-suggestions. After a little while mine basically only suggests me educational/science videos and movie reviews/analysis.
