Yes, Jews, Muslims, and many Christian sects have expressly forbidden necromancy, communicating, or inquiring things with the dead, as it is labeled as witchcraft and a part of demonology. It is a part of demonology since it is believed that malevolent spirits could use the communication to free themselves from Hell, or trick humans into doing their bidding.
