Maybe this is a thing and I've been buying cheap rain jackets.

I wonder if reusable and resealable bags are only designed to be open and closed a finite amount of times.

ziplock style requires you to pinch both sides to close. it also requires you to pull both sides to open. on wearables the fabric isnt easily pinchable from both sides, you would be forced to smear it hard against your soft supple flesh to close it. a wearable pocket shouldnt require two hands to open/close because your other hand is usually occupied with the item worth storing, etc.

really we should be using silent velcro by now but the US military wont let us.

Just a note for the Velcro; I ran across this video ages ago and found it really helps with keeping that ripping noise from being too audible

They make zipper-style ziplocs with sliders, no need for pinching or stretching.

95 percent of the world is not under US military jurisdiction and many countries probably have similar or better tech.
