The many rules inherited from
I've never even seen the title screen of Fortnite, but all this hate makes me really curious.
I played it briefly, even as the decrepit ancient wizened old man in his late 30s that I was. It's pretty fun and a cool concept. You get dropped into an island, scavenge guns and healing supplies, can build a fort, and have to be the last one standing.
The moment you die you just load into another lobby.
And that's it. If you don't care about your looks or emotes then I believe it's entirely free to play.
That's where they get ya. I played thousands of hours of League of Legends. When I first played I thought "what idiot would waste money on skins that offer no gameplay advantage whatsoever?"
I became the idiot
It’s been a decade, and I still go back to League. I’ll be fine for months, and suddenly the urge to play “just one ARAM” pops out nowhere.
I’m at the fucking bar right now, scrolling Lemmy because I’d rather go home and play League and have my mid laner call me a dog.
Someone please release me from the clutches of Riot Games. (I really do enjoy TFT tho, great little autochess game)
I think it's mostly from the fortnite bad minecraft good reddit thing, but also old people disliking what kids nowadays like. Truly a "dank meme" smh

Weird analysis, how is not being able to pause in a multiplayer only game a dark pattern?
Also, I've never seen fortnite requiring you to play on any schedule.
I think it's a matter of "play enough to get this battle pass done within this timeframe or pay up if you're desperate for the final loot". Have never felt "punished" to miss a day though...
