So, if tobacco companies are now sued for knowing about the I'll effects while continuing production, Opec will face the same fate some day. When 1,5c is no longer obtainable, the world will want a scale goat.

There is more to this than meets the eye.

The scapegoat is that you the individual didn't cut down your carbon footprint enough.

Let's be clear: developed world lifestyle will change if we are going to have any climate impact. What is total bullshit is that we all have to do it alone as individuals. No it will be by collectively purging carbon from all aspects of industrialization.

And that's the reasoning that is no longer working for the tobacco industry. "What do you mean, my fault? I only provided the gun, and the ammo and..."

All those folk driving because public transport roots don't go where they need to get. All those folk who cannot afford to get the train so drive. All those people that power their homes with power from fossil fuels.

How dare they do that to this planet?

And then some smug green folk will berate them for eating meat and blaming them for the worlds problems and wondering why no one cares or buys into the message.

Industry need to improve and governments need to use legislation to get that change. We need to persuade and encourage, not berate. Praise improvements and notberate sub-optimal behaviour. Do we want to save the planet or just feel good about ourselves?

Tobacco companies invented iqos, just like OPEC will push co2 capturing. They can't wait to order their brand new yachts (or sea-buses)
