I mean, I am not outlining some kind of grandiose and elegant worldview that will always lead to having the correct opinion about everything that ever happens.
I am pointing out that you basically just have to have roughly passed through the 2nd year of a 4 year poli sci degree, or just independently read up a bit on the basics of international relations and disputes to realize this story is not that shocking.
My point is that even with a basic understanding, a simplistic take is all thats needed to dismiss this.
I get what you mean but it was not aimed at some particular worldview or ideology, just a rib at how the rally round the flag effect seemingly never fails to work on mass publics, especially so in America after the Republicans have more or less destroyed public education in my own lifetime.
I did not realize I had to bring something to the table on what is usually a comment board full of jokes and memes.
Is there a sub lemmy where more serious discussion occurs? I am new to lemmy and would be interested in some good long hard throbbing geopolitical analyses.
