There's levels to prepping. You can do some basic preparations that drastically increase your chances of survival without going all the way to bunkers with years of food in them and alternate locations. Having a couple days of canned/dried food and water, and a backpack ready in a closet with basic survival gear is very minimal preparation and could save your life in an emergency. It is quite sensible.
