Rules:

- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Not in America.
Our only real say is in primaries. And even that's debatable since the official position of the DNC is a primary isnt a real election, and they can influence it as much as they want because it's nonbinding and if they wanted it can just be skipped.
I think he means an option with a chance of winning.
If Trump wins, probably, just not in the way you mean.
A left-leaning voter voting third party is just half a vote for Trump. There's zero chance of a remotely left-leaning third party winning the presidency.
(I say "left-leaning", but the U.S.'s "left-leaning" is what the rest of the world would call "conservative" at best.)
Americans suck and will not vote for a good government. They will vote for a bad government or a worse government, and there's not enough people who will vote for the third option for it to be viable.
The idea that you are satisfied with who you vote for and happy with the government is something your civics teacher should have beaten out of you. Americans don't get nice things.
I agree with your post except for the implication that the American voters and/or civics teachers are at fault. The way voting works in the U.S., it's just not possible to vote our way out of this mess.
