Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Why are we fighting again?
Edit: humanity
Oh, that's easy, for Russia it's crucial for reasons... it was something about de-nazification, or was it to stop NATO expanding? No, no, it's to defend against the aggression of The West!
That's why Russia has to occupy Ukraine!
For Ukraine, they mostly seem to have a bee up their butt about Russian troops occupying, torturing, kidnapping, displacing and murdering Ukrainians on Ukrainian soil.
Because Vladimir Putin can’t accept the fact that the Soviet Union is dead and gone?
Well, the cancer may have reached his brain.
Shit. I guess I'm "Team Cancer" now.
It’s amazing how long they can keep rich assholes alive.
Soviet Union was big, included many states. Socialist economy imploded, Soviet Union became Soviet non-union. States declared sovereignty as independent countries (mass brexits, kinda?).
Russia, who used to be able to socialize assets from all the smaller countries, wants to be able to socialize the assets again, and as a bonus, is salty because some of those countries are hooking up with NATO, which is by and large a union of capitalism...
Instead of trying to create a union again, and getting others to join via diplomacy or negotiation, Russia is just trying to press its neighbors into joining the reformed union via military occupation, and hit a slight snag with Ukraine, because all this shit is a little too recent for Ukraine to have forgotten how shitty a lada is.
Also like to add that Ukraine was on a good trajectory and had zero reason to give up its independence. Strong tech industry, agriculture, etc.
The only way Russia was going to get it back was violently.
And that in itself was another reason to invade. A free and prosperous western-facing Ukraine might cause the Russian masses to begin wondering why they can't have that too. Putin cannot abide that.
Thank you for making a serious and accurate reply to a pretty silly post. For real. Others may see it that actually do not understand what it's all about.
Hey, I threw a few humorous bits in there... ;)
Hey hey hey, I hate imperialism and Putin as much as the next guy but the Lada Niva was actually kind of neat.
Are you in Russia or Ukraine? Or maybe you're in a different conflict. But I don't know why you're fighting.
I mean humanity I suppose.
