From another terminal:

ps ax | grep vim | awk '{print $1}' | xargs -- kill -9

I'm afraid that's from before my time. I'm born in 1996 and didn't have internet before 2008. I think my first Linux install was Ubuntu 12.04 from a CD-ROM.
