Why is it that ever since upgrading Fedora I need to restart the pipewire daemon every time I plug/unplug headphones or else media freezes?

[-] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 102 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Because the sound goes through pipes and you need to let them rest, otherwise they might burst from the sound pressure.

The community told me that using Arch would turn me into a cute femboy. It's been a decade and I'm still as large and hairy as I was back then.

My question is who should I sue for this false advertisement?

[-] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 25 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Linus. He is responsible for making Linux, in general, so Arch had to use that kernel. If Linux never existed, you might've naturally become a femboy.

Why do Linux users hate Nvidia?

[-] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 79 points 11 months ago

Because Nvidia hates Linux users. They're just returning the favor.

[-] Tartas1995@discuss.tchncs.de 51 points 11 months ago

That is surprisingly accurate

[-] VinesNFluff@pawb.social 27 points 11 months ago

That's literally just correct. Are you sure you don't know your Linux lore?

Can you explain network sockets to me?

[-] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 49 points 11 months ago

They're just regular sockets that do most of the work... the net thing is just added to complicate things.

Which one is it?

“Ask me anything about it and I’ll try to answer”

OR

“Ask me anything about IT and I’ll try to answer”

[-] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 41 points 11 months ago

Take your pick, I'm feeling generous today.

How do I change the language to EN-US on redstar os?

[-] 0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works 39 points 11 months ago

You don't. It's designed to be unchagable. Only the supreme leader can change that.

So someone suggested to me that Linux is amazing for gaming.

I decided to split boot and installed Mint and attempted to play Forza Horizon 5. It literally runs like a potato. Also my Logitech steering wheel doesn't work and has major input lag.

Since you know so little about Linux, my question is what are you having for dinner?

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack members of the community for any reason.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.

  • No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.
