Diablo 4 was just released and it supports cross play and is a very good game that is being actively updated to be even better.
I hear it’s an amazing game but it’s hard not to also call it a cash grab considering it’s $70 with a cash shop that has single items over $20
think of the d4 cash shop as cosmetics that don't affect you and lets people who do want them fund your free DLC in the future of the game
personally I kinda like this model over the loot box filled nightmare it would have been if it released in 2017 ish and also over the DLC mess diablo 3 was
Who promised free DLC?
I'm gonna go on a limb here at suggest that the future of D4 and it's DLCs will likely look more like OW/2.
They do affect me.
The fact that they're paywalled means that they aren't earned by playing the game, which means that whether I pay for them or not my experience is much, much worse. Earning cool shit is the core gameplay loop of a game like Diablo.
My favorite model for cosmetics was when they were just a part of the game you unlocked for free by playing it. Anyone else remember those days?
Fuck these greedy corporations lol
I recently finished Control after upgrading my 3570k (to actually be able to play a modern game at acceptable settings) and found it really refreshing that a newer game gives you cosmetic outfits for playing the damn game. It's a game that doesn't really finish once you complete the story so I can see myself continuing it with my new clothes once I get bored of TOTK.

Yeah I mean I’m just old but I preferred games the way they were 20 years ago, when all those cool cosmetics were in the base game, and they released paid expansions later
