Should've made the scientist look more like James Spader.
If I remember right, Stargate's antagonists didn't build the pyramids, they had them built. By humans. (And even if I don't remember right, it's still plausible.)
The question becomes: How much alien tech was needed?
Even in that universe, the answer might be "none". People can be remarkably resourceful if told "Here are the measurements. Get to it. Or die."
