Leaked Google pay data reveals the highest salaries the tech giant pays in engineering, sales, and more
(www.businessinsider.com)
This is a most excellent place for technology news and articles.
Tldr:
In the article there is a graph with more of the highest base salaries in other categories but they mostly hover at 300k
The fine article bounces back and forth between base salary and total compensation (salary + bonus + stock grants). It's hard to be certain of which they are actually using, but I work in Silicon Valley and this seems more like total comp than base pay. (Stock and bonuses can more than double total comp.)
That l7 input their total comp as their base, unless they're in a unique position to take it all as base and no stock. That's about average to low total comp for that level.
Yeah, someone definitely input their salary into the form incorrectly. This is all information collected voluntarily, I'm sure there was definitely incorrect information provided by people, either accidentally or purposefully.
Good god. I don't get paid enough. I'm a level 5 software engineer, and I'm making waaaaay less than that.
But also my job is extremely laid back, and I don't have to put in many hours. And I make enough that I'm happy. So I have no intention of leaving any time soon.
Yeah I was a bit envious at first but I get to live in the middle of nowhere and works chill enough that I can feign bad connection if I need some me time.
The fuzzy handcuffs
That level 7 goofed though. He makes 250-350k+ stonks
