It used to be a hard line Stalinist descriptor though. Back in 2020 it might still have meant something like that. The word entered common public vocabulary pretty recently and has quickly devolved in meaning since then

The first time I saw Social Justice Warrior in use, it hadn't yet been appropriated by the right. At the time, it referred to what we today call an online larper or clout chaser with left aesthetics
