Rules:

- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

In ww2 the U.S. navy had a ship that just made and delivered ice cream to the fighting boats. Ice cream is as american as apple pie!
I'm not gonna argue with that. it is a classic american dessert. (especially together. A 4th of July staple if ever there was one.)
But, just for the record... because I find the history of icecream intriguing... one of the earlier recordings of an ice cream recipe (and the salty-ice method of making it,) comes from a medical text written by a Syrian historian in the 1300's. Apples, too, weren't native to America and brought over by colonists (though, the Ottoman empire had apple pies, too. And probably ice cream. One wonders if they were enlightened enough to put them together...)

That is true. Everywhere he goes he makes a point of trying local ice cream.

(Goddammit this reminds me that Izzy’s Ice cream didn’t survive the pandemic. Their Swedish Garden Party was amazing. Vanilla ice cream with lingonberry jam and ginger snap cookies.)
