Why does dessalines alow that place to exist, again? I get the support but you think they could control some of the more vile elements
Is dessalines an admin for .world?
oh, hang on. As a lemmy developer themself I thought they did have some kind of overarching authority? I'm assuming not
They have no authority when it comes to other instances. The most that could be done is defederating world from ml, but in terms of World's existence the Lemmy project is specifically made so that an admin host is in complete control of their site and that there's no central authority that can dictate what can/can't exist at a site level.
Yeah, love it or hate it, that's why Hexbear has been able to exist for so long. The only people capable of shutting down this website are people on the admin list, and even then I seriously doubt that all of them have the power needed to shut down the website. Unless interpol literally commit arson, there's no shutting down Hexbear. Same thing goes for the other shitty instances in the fediverse.
Edit: Not calling Hexbear shit. Calling .world shit.
Pretty sure the admins support us somewhat. They are directly connected with lemmygrad at least
By admins, I mean the Hexbear admin list. Not the lemmy admins. They can defed at worst, but they can't actually shut down Hexbear.
Ahh. I'm not versed in fediverse stuff that much. Thanks for the explanation comrade
They're the admin of lemmy.ml but I'm pretty sure they have no association with .world. The admins of .ml do moderate the worst libs but aren't as thorough as lemmygrad or hexbear for the sake of being welcoming to a general audience.
