seeing this made me just break down crying. if you'd asked me yesterday what i thought of akira toriyama i would have probably said i respected him immensely, but his work didn't hold a special place in my heart. but realizing that he's gone is just devastating. such an iconic, important artist. the world is worse without him

I remember loving dragon ball as a kid, and then wanting more so I read the stuff after #42 and bwas like "nah it sucks". So I condemned toriyama to being some pervy dumbass until I stumbled on that weird waterworld manga he did and I thought "damn the guy who made that dog shit dragon ball could also make some cool stuff?" Which led to me rereading dragon ball and realising how much I'd misremembered the series. When I finally got to 42 again and saw the "Thank you! Good bye!!" I cried as if I was 6 years old and I'd just been told my best friend was moving away.
Guy was great. I especially love the first 20 or so volumes.
I was so sad when I heard of his death and I don't even understand why, I haven't had any connection with his stuff since I was a teenager

Piracy is good and you should do more of it. Use https://aniwave.to/ and https://4anime.gg/ for streaming, and https://nyaa.si/ for torrents. Piracy is the only means of digital protest that audiences have to fight poor worker treatment.
