Im being serious. The left needs to embrace a “do as I say not as I do” attitude towards our leaders, with great power comes a large amount of treats and who are we to judge Hasan for not living up to the ideals that he sets out for us. In fact I think its good that he doesnt do what he says, it means you are willing to follow him, when he does not care about you, it shows one true ideological devotion to the cause. Please give your eyes and your capital to Hasan, he needs it more than you, and do not have original ideas or question him at all. Free thinkers will get banned in the twitch chat. And please, do not drink the Coca Cola even if dear leader is doing it. Inshallah Hasan is divine in nature!

It's really not a good thing that I'm beginning to recognize your username on sight for having the most annoying takes. Some like this are kinda funny, but you have also been sincerely advocating for plenty of harmful shit (like when you claimed innocent workers on the Baltimore bridge collapse deserved to die) as well. I encourage you to either take your, well, takes to c/badposting or stop wrecking, honestly.

This has echoes of some past struggle sessions here, where people get really attached to their parasocial youtubers and streamers and defend their shitty actions, but I can't tell if this is a wrecker post trying to start a big argument, or if they're just passive-aggressively venting about someone else's actions instead of being upfront with them. Or if they are just trying to make people laugh with a bit. I'm just confused.

i think it's even more online, which is that this person emphatically does NOT like Hasan, but sees their 'identity' as an online leftist being linked to him cos of other leftists watching him, and now has the need to run to the internet to rub it in everyone's face that 'their' person did something wrong, and therefore you are being a 'bad' leftists by liking Hasan, meaning I can discount you as being a part of the thing I identify with and leaving me as the true leftist

it's extremely online, especially with trying to turn it around into this smug, sarcastic rhetorical thing where they're preemptively on the attack against their 'Hasan stan' boogeyman

Oh yeah it might be. I was hoping it was a bit or something. Damn. I'm a terminally online communist and I barely know who this guy is, if I didn't hear people complaining about him I probably wouldn't know anything about him at all. This is very much a "touch grass" moment then, but more importantly, a "talk to people" moment. Hasan is a nobody, no one cares about him other than his very small fanbase and a group of people who are online too much caring way, way too much about him. He's not like a Ben Shapiro or Jordan Peterson type, who does actively hold some influence in the real world with "normies."

Absolutely a bit. This is a couple layers, too. Ultimately, when you look at their other posting, and probable past accounts, they're making fun of this site and kind of satirizing it. They're often fishing for the line of what kind of unhinged take people here will believe could be coming from a member of the community sincerely or be accepted.

Not denying this happens here, but I'll be honest this site feels 10x better about it than most, especially reddit-logo . If anything I'd argue we have some users who go a bit too far in the opposite direction where they seem really dedicated to finding any and all reasons to hate any left leaning public figure. Even if they're usually right they get a bit to... fervent about it.

[-] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 7 months ago

Yeah, usually the actions being defended are things like "This lib had a very lib take" and not actual fucked up shit that I've seen defended or "rationalised" elsewhere.

[-] Sons_of_Ferrix@hexbear.net 5 points 7 months ago

Hot take: I think this impulse we have here to try and make sure everyone and everything we like is sufficiently "leftist" is silly and a waste of time. Liberalism is the dominant ideology of the day, most people are Libs. I've just accepted a lot of people I like are Libs. I don't get the need to scour the social media of every random video game reviewer or whatever I like to make sure they've never had a Lib take and then post here when I inevitably find one. Just enjoy their video on why Stardew Valley is good and focus on more productive shit.

Yeah, I just don't pretend streamers I watch are personal friends, I treat them they same way I would any other entertainer. It doesn't seem hard, but for some reason people get really personally attached to them and defend them like they're people they know in real life.

[-] Sons_of_Ferrix@hexbear.net 5 points 7 months ago

Even if they WERE my friends, I have plenty of friends who are Libs, I wouldn't have any friends where I live if I insisted only only befriending people as left as me. You don't have to defend their Lib takes, just accept their Libs and move on.

[-] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 7 months ago

Yeah, exactly. If you want friends, you need to tolerate lib bullshit, I was stuck listening to a half hour conversation about the new live action avatar recently, and they kept talking about fan theories and stuff and my libbest friend shared their performative lib ideas about Sokka not having an arc where he stops being sexist being a good thing because it removes "controversy." It was so damn mind-numbing.

But they're my libs and I love them.

There were a few people on this site parroting that same opinion so idk if that's an exclusively Lib take shrug-outta-hecks

[-] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 7 months ago

Oh, this was a very lib version of the take though, very much "removing controversy is good. Full Stop." kind of thing. 0 analysis, 0 understanding, just "This thing bad, so it should be gone forever and always."

I still think it is a lib take. Acting like characters in fiction have to be completely flawless from the get go just results in really dull, boring characters. Real people are assholes, and characters in fiction should be assholes too, as long as it is seen as a bad thing by the text. But libs have that whole "this exists in your fiction, which means you must approve of it." complete lack of media analysis.
