They supposedly can be disabled in settings- but we all know that won't last. They're going full Microsoft Skype mode and it's only a matter of time.

Yes, and that will always be the case. But I feel like P2P software tends to get shittier slower. There are probably some open-source solutions out there right now, waiting to be adopted.
