I'm genuinely impressed with their balls. Libs probably won't notice it but they've done this both on twitter and in-game.

I could be wrong, but it does seem like the Automatons are off-shoots of the Cyborgs of Helldivers 1, canonically.

Yeah they are, they were created by the Cyborgs. The Cyborgs were enslaved in mines on the planet Cyberstan, which the Automatons just took back.

Either the Cyborgs will join the Automaton faction as a few different units, or they will become their own faction entirely.
