I would love to find extensions that make me think "How did I live without this?"

In the uBlock Origin Settings -> Filter Lists check lists named "annoyances" and "newsletters" or try other additional ones. That should help.

I actually check and recommend using all lists. This is especially useful when you use VPN. Also if you want more security use separate browser profile just for VPN.
