The sole purpose of this community is to discuss Israeli and Palestinian issues. It is not the place for hurling insults, rehashing grudges, or making up history. Any conversation that veers into the "if only your people had" realm will be deleted or locked right away. I started this community in the potentially fruitless hope that we may have a civil conversation about this issue.
Rules:
- References to historical events must include a reputable source. The definition of reputable is up to the mods. Keep that in mind.
- Articles from reputable sources only.
- No name-calling. That's what DMs are for. /s
- Keep it in English. If I don't understand the word, it gets removed. Obvious exceptions would be the use of proper names and references. For example, "wadi" when used to refer to a place is acceptable.
- Discussions that are heading into the probability of becoming a flame war will be locked.
- Repeat offenders will be forced to find another community.
- Anti-Zionism is ok. Anti-Semitism is not.
- Whataboutism is for toddlers. Try to grow up.
- Posting articles about current events is encouraged. Posting the same story from 20 different sources is not.
- Posting an article purely for the purpose of saying "Look what monsters they are" is discouraged unless it can generate an honest discussion. This is probably the most difficult rule to follow.
- No calling anyone a terrorist.
- No YouTube links. Some of us can read.

How do you think this situation would have been different if he would have lost the presidential election to Trump or if Trump had successfully overthrown democracy to seize control of America?
Trump is one of the few presidents who'd have handled this worse than Biden. Notable the list of "better than Biden on Palestine affairs" includes figures such as Reagan and George Bush, so it's not a high bar.
That doesn't really address the reality we were dealt. We aren't discussing hypothetically who the best president would have been in this moment, I'm asking about the real 2 options that could have played out these last 4 years.
Part of what electing Biden did was prevent the Trump response in these moments, I'm asking how this person thinks things would have been better if we hadn't united behind Biden.
That's not what they're saying, though. They never said the party shouldn't have united behind Biden.
Which is why I clarified the hypothetical I was asking about because that is not the reality we were dealing with.

Just for those that are taking notes, remember if the above poster actually gave a shit about border security, they would immediately turn on Trump when facing the facts about Trump intentionally sabotaging border security.
The reality is they are a cultist or propagandist who is using border security as a pretend position to bitch about. They won't actually criticize Trump.
You can also see they are clearly not addressing the question as to the differences on Palestine.

What issue did you have with the border bill (written by Republicans) and why do you think they will do better on the next one?
