When that is the case, and we act like it in the US, then the reverse is also true, and you owe no allegiance or decency to the society that punches down at you.
Maybe if humanity made it our priority to care for one another instead of working against one another to "win" a bigger pile of capital than the other guys, we wouldn't have as many killers.
But that will never happen, and we won't ever take responsibility as societies for the monsters we create through our apathy and sociopathy.
When there's a school shooting, I feel like I'm the only person who feels for the shooter kid who had no friends and abusive/neglectful parents. No one gave a shit about that kid until he snapped. That isn't just the immediate parents job, that is society's job to prevent. That is the parents of the kids that picked on them's fault, that is our underfunded social services' fault, that is all of our faults.
Honestly I'm surprised we don't have more. Everyone has a breaking point, and our society is all about exploiting people to theirs for private profit, and then throwing them away like garbage when they're no longer effective capital batteries. Then everyone acts shocked and horrified when they don't just go off and die peacefully and silently.
"The world doesnt owe you anything!!!"
