!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

No wait I know the answer to this one.... If you have a penis, you should be able to use tools competently and perform basic maintenance and repairs. I learned this just by watching cartoons and tv when I was a child so I taught myself all that stuff just because I thought you were assumed to. I now take $75+ per hour from men who cant figure out how a screwdriver works. I am virtual husband to many women who married paper shufflers who can't even tighten a loose doorknob screw.
I don't think a penis is required. I personally think that every human being should know basic maintenance and repair skills.
No penis is really required.
But the beard is mandatory.
As a woman, I will say that I consider myself blessed that i found a man that not only had basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing knowledge; but also was willing to share that knowledge with me. Now I can do basic handyman stuff.
I moved into a house where a person with "basic electrical skills" lived and there are so many fire hazards and death traps. I wish electrical assistance was cheaper so people doesn't mess with that. It was an old partner to the person I moved in with and she was upset that I hired an electrician to redo quite alot[

Agreed, and any major work is done by a licensed electrician, but replacing an outlet or switch is completely doable with training and safety measures.
