Here is the thing. If you personally donate $20 to charity, you get a $20 a charitable donation tax break. If a corporation donates $20 to charity "on your behalf", the corporation gets a $20 a charitable donation tax break. That's the scam. Never donate or round up at stores. Donate directly.

That's not how this works. That donation is still yours and you can claim it on your taxes. The company cannot.
