In Singapore, English is the language of education. trade and commerce. The native languages Malay, Chinese and Tamil are all afforded national language status and students are free to study whichever they choose.
In Malaysia, they push Malay on everyone's for everything because national language, then realize no one outside of the country speaks it. Always playing catch up with knowledge because of the time it takes to translate and get the information. Students and workers have trouble googling stuff because of inadequate language skills and the tendency to give up when they don't get what they want BCOS google sux, also a result of shitty education. Companies leave behind or outright exclude some ethnic groups because the managers speak one langaue and the others, another. Don't even get me started on the outright racist bullshit we put up with on a daily basis.
Our policymakers need to get their heads out of their ass and look long term, instead of securing short term wins, personal gains and rah rah votes from the uneducated masses.
Go ahead and downvote. All I gotta say is 1sgd=3.47myr, assholes.
