It really depends on the tastes of the time. For instance, the 90's were generally really colorful.
I think I can hear the 80s knocking at the door. They seem to have something to say.

I thought that was the 70s that were all about that brown. Seems like 80s shifted to orange and pink.
FD I didn't get to see either, well at least I didn't see the 70s and not able to remember the 80s. This is just based on how it's referred back to in the current era.
My 70s home had rust colored appliances, orange vinyl furniture (that I'm hoping to find), and orange, green, brown flowery wallpaper in the kitchen.
The 90s were really pastelly. The early 2000s were super colorful with the sudden proliferation of LED art. At least in my experience.
