I haven't thrown a one-sentence "we shouldda" out there, I don't need to "propose solutions". Also, such "proposals" mean jack, have no bearing on real life and are transient in nature - a week from now nobody will remember the post. This isn't the UN, this is a small forum with angrily idealistic people who ultimately won't be in a position to suggest anything or introduce any change in how the world works.

Whar leads you to believe we don't log out and go do gardening, talk to friends about what to do about all of this, call our senators and congressmen, canvas people to register to vote?

What leads you to believe your gardening will change anything? What leads you to believe calling a politician will bring about any change? Especially with saying things like "let's get rid of all the plastic in the world"? Ultimately nobody here has enough power behind them to actually influence anything, especially with such an unrealistic idea.

So your solution is petulant nothingness? Your goals for the planet are to let it burn? I'm not saying I have the answers, but you're in here telling us what we're doing isn't helpful, but we've asked you what you're doing, what ideas you have to bring to the table that we could start implementing, but all you ever offer is apathy. This is my last comment to you unless you want to start suggesting things. Its clear you don't agree with this communities core ethos which is "for things to change you have to do things"

Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:
