If anyone has both of those flags hanging at the same time, they don't understand what the top one means.

[-] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 87 points 4 months ago

And the amount of Maga fucks that have both in my state is to high. That and the blue lives matter Punisher sticker. They show just how stupid they are.

[-] snooggums@midwest.social 40 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

In Kansas you can get the yellow snake as your license plate.

I have seen three so far. All three of them had thin blue line bumper or window stickers.

[-] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 34 points 4 months ago

The State ALLOWS YOU to have a license plate identifying you as someone who's AGAINST THE FUCKING STATE!

[-] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 17 points 4 months ago

Self identification, pretty smart of the state tbh.

[-] Cornelius_Wangenheim@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Libertarians didn't create the Gadsden flag, nor do they own it

[-] PsychedSy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 months ago

I've seen a few without it. None that made me think they weren't steppers tho.

[-] wieson@feddit.org 9 points 4 months ago
  1. they care for reptiles who are basically just ribcage and know how riding them over even with a bicycle will fatally wound them

  2. they are a fan of the British sitcom starring Rowan Atkinson

[-] Sylvartas@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

I'd argue they don't understand what the bottom one means, but I'm ready to meet you in the middle and say that they don't understand any of the two

[-] AeonFelis@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

Top flag: "don't tread on me"

Bottom flag: "when there are perfectly good minorities you should be treading on right there!"

[-] xor@infosec.pub 5 points 4 months ago

that if the 13 colonies unite against british tyranny, they’ll be as untreadable as a rattlesnake? especially with the rattlesnake only being native to the americas….

[-] Forester@yiffit.net 33 points 4 months ago

The message is step on me and get bit. Traditionally it's an anarchist symbol encouraging unity and brotherhood among the colonies in defiance of the crown.
But just like many other things it has been misinterpreted and misused by fascists.

[-] xor@infosec.pub 12 points 4 months ago

that picture is actually part ii to this one
but, yeah… i agree…
we should just use a red and black one and let them have yellow and black (:

[-] Forester@yiffit.net 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Firstly, that's how you become identified as an anarcho-capitalist. Secondly, I'm a libertarian Minarchist. Aka Classical Liberal. Not a confused Republican

[-] xor@infosec.pub 3 points 4 months ago

although anarcho capitalists are larping, they already use black and yellow so i don’t think there would be much confusion….
secondly, ewww libertarians

[-] Forester@yiffit.net -4 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Yellow and black equals Libertarian Black and red equals Anarchy capitalism or at least that's how it used to work back on Reddit

Oh don't get me wrong. My party has a shit reputation because it's been infiltrated on purpose and turned into a mockery of itself.

Classical liberalism is a political tradition and a branch of liberalism that advocates free market and laissez-faire economics and civil liberties under the rule of law, with special emphasis on individual autonomy, limited government, economic freedom, political freedom and freedom of speech. Classical liberalism, contrary to liberal branches like social liberalism, looks more negatively on social policies, taxation and the state involvement in the lives of individuals, and it advocates deregulation.

Mind you I'm not saying the government is useless. I'm just saying there are some things that shouldn't be regulated that are excessively stupidly regulated. There are other things that need more regulation. It's a balancing act.

[-] xor@infosec.pub 3 points 4 months ago

black and red never meant that

[-] within_epsilon@beehaw.org 2 points 4 months ago

I find Nozick's minimal state interesting. He seems to want to entrust violence to a state. How would such a system prevent the minimal state from forming monopolies or cartels by which the ruled give up economic and political freedom?

[-] batmaniam@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

The one on a rainbow field still does the job for now.

[-] TheRealLinga@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 months ago

I wonder if Metallica understood the real meaning or they were promoting fascism with their song

[-] doingthestuff@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Yeah I was thinking that those two flags are completely incompatible. I kind of respect the one that isn't a gang symbol. Her reaction was still appropriate.

An international (English speaking) socialist Lemmy community free of the "ML" influence of instances like lemmy.ml and lemmygrad. This is a place for undogmatic shitposting and memes from a progressive, anti-capitalist and truly anti-imperialist perspective, regardless of specific ideology.

Serious posts, news, and discussion go in c/Socialism.

If you are new to socialism, you can ask questions and find resources over on c/Socialism101.

Please don't forget to help keep this community clean by reporting rule violations, updooting good contributions and downdooting those of low-quality!

Rules

Version without spoilers

0. Only post socialist memes

That refers to funny image macros and means that generally videos and screenshots are not allowed. Exceptions include explicitly humorous and short videos, as well as (social media) screenshots depicting a funny situation, joke, or joke picture relating to socialist movements, theory, societal issues, or political opponents. Examples would be the classic case of humorous Tumblr or Twitter posts/threads. (and no, agitprop text does not count as a meme)

1. Socialist Unity in the form of mutual respect and good faith interactions is enforced here

Try to keep an open mind, other schools of thought may offer points of view and analyses you haven't considered yet. Also: This is not a place for the Idealism vs. Materialism or rather Anarchism vs. Marxism debate(s), for that please visit c/AnarchismVsMarxism.

2. Anti-Imperialism means recognizing capitalist states like Russia and China as such

That means condemning (their) imperialism, even if it is of the "anti-USA" flavor.

3. No liberalism, (right-wing) revisionism or reactionaries.

That includes so called: Social Democracy, Democratic Socialism, Dengism, Market Socialism, Patriotic Socialism, National Bolshevism, Anarcho-Capitalism etc. . Anti-Socialist people and content have no place here, as well as the variety of "Marxist"-"Leninists" seen on lemmygrad and more specifically GenZedong (actual ML's are welcome as long as they agree to the rules and don't just copy paste/larp about stuff from a hundred years ago).

4. No Bigotry.

The only dangerous minority is the rich.

5. Don't demonize previous and current socialist experiments or (leading) individuals.

We must constructively learn from their mistakes, while acknowledging their achievements and recognizing when they have strayed away from socialist principles.

(if you are reading the rules to apply for modding this community, mention "Mantic Minotaur" when answering question 2)

6. Don't idolize/glorify previous and current socialist experiments or (leading) individuals.

Notable achievements in all spheres of society were made by various socialist/people's/democratic republics around the world. Mistakes, however, were made as well: bureaucratic castes of parasitic elites - as well as reactionary cults of personality - were established, many things were mismanaged and prejudice and bigotry sometimes replaced internationalism and progressiveness.
