- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. If you’re getting worked up over a news article I didn’t even write, that’s on you. Be mad if you want, but I'm under no obligation to prove anything to you. I’ll share my opinion, and you can take it or leave it. Either way, not my problem. :)
Removed, civility.
You can throw your cheap insults all you want, but it’s the system you defend that makes millions suffer every day! While you support and parrot their lies, I stand with the oppressed, fighting to end the misery that the capitalist elite you protect inflicts on the working class! :)
Removed, civility.
It’s funny how quick you are to accuse others of being pro-Trump when your desperation to defend the duopoly reeks of fear.
You're terrified of a future where people break free from the chains of this corrupt two-party stranglehold! I don't believe anything you say.
I see what you are trying to do. It's pretty obvious you're scared and worried.
Is this supposed to be an insult? I'd need to be a real piece of shit not to be afraid of doing something that could help trump. I am afraid of any chance for trump, admittedly, and in no way have tried to hide it. It funny to you though, for some mysterious reason... wonder why.
No one buys this logicless claim that I'm trying to help trump by telling people they only have the option of voting for Harris to avoid him.
I posted an article that's already widely available on a much bigger platform than Lemmy. I didn’t write it or create the content. It's already out there for anyone to see, so all I did was share it here for discussion. If you disagree with the article itself, that's fine, but calling for it to be censored or accusing me of pushing an agenda simply because it's not what you want to read is misguided and lazy. Open debate requires different perspectives, not shutting down content you don't like.
You aren't going to break the duopoly by voting 3rd party. All that does is help insure that the viable candidate closest to your views loses.
Breaking the duopoly involves getting ranked choice/instant runoff elections in your area.
Do that and you can vote for whoever you want without actively harming the process.
Asking people to vote 3rd party, particularly in swing states, ONLY helps Trump.
https://www.thirdway.org/report/the-dangerous-illusion-of-a-presidential-third-party-in-2024
"Trump’s Supporters are Die-Hards. Democrats’ are…not.
Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election was not due to any erosion in support for Donald Trump. Rather, not only did Trump’s raw vote total increase, but in the key states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan, Trump’s share of the vote actually increased. The change that made the difference between Hillary Clinton’s loss in 2016 and Biden’s victory in 2020 was the decrease in support for third-party candidates. As a result, Biden’s vote shares were higher in battleground states than Clinton’s, even when Trump’s vote share increased as well."
pointing out that voting for fringe left parties will actually stifle adoption of progressive ideals is not “parroting their [elite capitalists?] lies”.
seriously man take a step back, people are making a good point and bucketing them in with whoever you perceive as your enemy so that you can ignore it seems kind of closed-minded. It definitely does not get them onto your side.
Name-calling and bullying definitely aren’t helping me see your side either. I respect your right to vote for whoever you want, and all I ask is that you do the same for me. You’re free to think third-party votes stifle progress, but I’m not here to be bullied into agreeing. Just because we have different views doesn’t make me closed-minded—it makes democracy work.
Don’t gaslight, I am not calling you any names, and responding specifically to the role of these fringe parties in our current context, to someone who has chosen to be a top-traffic poster about the issue can’t really be considered bullying.
Read this very thread. Plenty have called me names just today. I've been called an idiot in this thread. And a troll. I wasn't saying you directly, I was responding to the bigger issue. I mean, I'm called names all day every day by people on Lemmy. Seems like they are really representing the democratic party in an unkind way lately. lol
Would you like me to send you links to the multitude of people calling me names? And then now as a response to this post, people will say "Oh, you always cry and say you're a victim!" lol
Gaslighter, idiot, troll, Russian agent, victim, meh... I get it all. :)
