If you want something modern but traditional, Dragon Quest 11.
I have played DQ11, it was fine, kinda boring I thought? I didn't finish it though, it just kinda felt...too classic almost.
Yeah it basically all the classic shit mashed into a modern engine. I get how it can be boring, but I play it on the harder difficulty to offset that.
