I'm mad. This is exactly what people predicted would happen: LSD, Psilocybin, MDMA, etc will never be legal because they can't be patented. However, if one were to come up with a drug based on MDMA but substantially different enough to not count as an analog, then you could patent it and reap the benefits of it without having to compete with any generics while also being outside the jurisdiction of the DEA.
