Harris’s people are confident. The Trump campaign is panicking

God, I hope they know something we don't. I feel like I'm gonna pass out. Or throw up.

God, that would almost make the next 36 hours or so worth it.

Almost.

Anyone have any general anesthetic I can borrow?

[-] auzy@lemmy.world 11 points 3 hours ago

I'm going to bed here in Australia now, and will hopefully wake up to a harris win.. Best of luck guys. The entire world is literally hoping for this (because another 4 years of racism, narcassism, BS and cult behavior is simply too much)..

[-] PugJesus@lemmy.world 14 points 3 hours ago

You definitely won't wake up to a Harris win, unless you sleep for 24 hours or more. Voting is just about to start. Won't end 'til tonight.

[-] auzy@lemmy.world 6 points 2 hours ago

I can live with that.. just not wake up to a Harris loss

I’m feeling so much stress over the election. I don’t even drink but I bought 2 beers today, maybe subconsciously I was looking for a way to decompress from the stress of the Election Day.

In case anyone is concerned, it’s not an alcoholism thing. I just generally do not enjoy drinking alcohol.

I hope he strokes out and gets locked in syndrome for a few years.

I want him to experience hell on earth in case hell doesn't exist.

[-] Regrettable_incident@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago

I just want him gone, don't care how it happens - death, prison, or retirement into obscurity, whatever. Just so long as he's out of the game.

You can try to figure out how tenfingers combats link decay in this whitepaper

Or figure out if Dr Pepper is a woman.

Sorry I have no more brain treats atm.

God, that would almost make the next 36 hours or so worth it.

36 hours?

Uhhhh. Its like 1488 hours until January 6th, 2025, and I'm not even sure if all the issues will be resolved by then this time around. Even if Kamala wins.

In a nightmare Year 2000-like scenario (aka: Hanging Chads deciding an election), it could be the middle of December before the Supreme Court handles a hypothetical case that comes up tomorrow night.

[-] MrVilliam@lemmy.world 18 points 6 hours ago

It's like 1488 hours until January 6th

It's really fucking bizarre that it actually is the Nazi-est number hours imaginable between the election and final certification of the election. I legit thought you were just doing some Nazi dog whistle virtue signaling until I did the math to find that 1488 hours is 62 days, and we are in fact 62 days from January 6. 🤯

[-] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 5 points 6 hours ago

Do you suppose that's how they landed on Jan 6 for their little Mien Coupf?

I suppose it's related to the certificate, but still pretty sus.

[-] MrVilliam@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

No, the goal in 2021 was to delay/stop the certification and keep trump in power. This time, I'm sure the Nazi propaganda framing would be to stop Kamala Harris (sitting VP and therefore president of the Senate) from "awarding herself the presidency." But since there will definitely be appropriate security this time, the cowardly Nazis will stay home and masturbate to deepfake porn of Democrats, activists, and controversial celebrities instead.

Best I can offer is grain alcohol

[-] jballs@sh.itjust.works 6 points 7 hours ago

That'll have to do.

[-] zephorah@lemm.ee 13 points 8 hours ago

I’m locking myself in my shop after 8pm, and using destructive metal objects to tear apart desiccated tree flesh. Maybe I’ll wander out at 3am and see what’s up. There’s no internet out there, and that may be the only path of sanity Tuesday night.

[-] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world 9 points 8 hours ago

I'm sorry to tell you this, but it's probably gonna be well over 36 hours

[-] vividspecter@lemm.ee 5 points 8 hours ago

It's plausible that it could be a clear win for either candidate. But yeah, a long, dragged out counting process is also quite probable.

[-] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

I was talking about it in another thread with someone, but It's really gonna suck if there has to be any recounts. No one (except maybe Trump) wants Bush v. Gore to happen again

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 15 points 10 hours ago

It's going to drag on longer than that, if it's not a clear Republican victory from the outset.

[-] linearchaos@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

Even that's not a sure thing.

The tragedy we've been living through needs a biiiiiiiiig catharsis to make it worthwhile.

[-] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

And then shit has to change. Fast. We cannot be allowed to go through this sort of threat again. Every tier of government now has a responsibility to recognize and close any legal loopholes that have been abused in order to bring us to this point. As well, they must proactively pass legislation to prevent this kind of fuckery from easily recurring.

For me, the necessary catharsis won't arrive until I feel assured that democracy is safe again.

[-] krashmo@lemmy.world 0 points 6 hours ago

All of that was true in 2020 and look where we are. It didn't happen then and it's not going to happen now. Call that pessimistic or fatalistic if you like but I don't see any major changes on the horizon.

[-] Cryophilia@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Ok.

I think you're pessimistic and fatalistic.

Government typically happens on a longer than 4 year time span.
