Summary

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced that the state is on track to break its voter turnout record, with 45.8% of registered voters having already cast early or absentee ballots.

As a critical battleground, Michigan could play a key role in deciding both the presidential race and control of Congress. Polling averages show Vice President Harris narrowly leading Trump in the state.

Michigan also hosts an important Senate race to replace retiring Democrat Debbie Stabenow and several competitive House contests.

Polls remain open until 8 p.m.

When people show up, Republicans usually don't do so well.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

[-] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 12 points 5 hours ago

As of right now they are showing Trump is winning that state. We had huge numbers turn up for early voting in Oklahoma. To fucking bad that a majority of them were there to vote for nazi fucking trump.

I am getting 2016 vibes all over again. America do we really prefer a fucking dementia, racist, piece of shit as president rather than a woman?

IT SHOULDN'T EVEN BE CLOSE!

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago

It really shouldn’t be.

All I can conclude is that everything that I find absolutely disqualifying about the corrupt amoral lying rapist isn’t a bug for his followers, it’s a feature.

There has been a good chunk of optimistic articles out over the last 48 hours. I'm doing my best to not give them much thought because I don't want to lose twice if Trump wins. My vote is cast which at this point is all I can do. Here's to hoping there's a major upset or all of the swing states go blue tonight and we can all rest easy.

Yes. Yes it is. I’m gonna go have a beer and not think about it. Or maybe a Xanax.

Recently bout of COVID gave me a THC allergy and it's fucking killing me that I have to raw dog this election

[-] billwashere@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

Dude that’s rough. I’ve never heard of a THC allergy. I don’t know which is worse. That or the tick bite that makes you allergic to red meat. I’d buy you a beer if I could.

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world 6 points 11 hours ago

I just got a bottle of red from Oregon which will be paired with some homegrown. Hope we both have a chill evening 🤞

[-] billwashere@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

Man I wish that shit was legal in NC. I could use some gummies.

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

I buy from these guys, it’s federally legal.

Does the CBD stuff “work”?

… plus it’s seltzer. I make fun of my wife because I tell her it tastes like a soda machine that ran out of flavoring :)

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Oh yeah, it works alright. Those 10mg gummies they sell will do the job.

[-] billwashere@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

I hate when they take Apple Pay. It’s too easy to impulse buy and my ADHD takes over.

I got two kinds of gummies. Thanks for the info!!! Now I just wish it was Amazon with overnight shipping.

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

You're welcome, enjoy!

I'm going to open a magnum of scotch and either celebrate to wake up in 2028.

[-] billwashere@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

I like that plan. Now I have to go get scotch.

[-] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 24 points 12 hours ago

Previously yes, though it’s less clear with Trump.

[-] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 27 points 12 hours ago

hoping it's roe v wade related.

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world -1 points 11 hours ago

Hoping it's anyone not male, caucasian, christian and straight related. These bigots need putting back in their fucking box.

Turnout in my swing state district was high today when I went to the polls.

But we're a pretty liberal district.

Still left me feeling cautiously optimistic.
