— company will have to change its packaging and be clearer about overclocking and BIOS adjustments if approved

A class action lawsuit brought against G.Skill, maker of some of the best RAM for gaming and general computing applications, has been settled to the tune of $2.4 million. The company was sued over claims that it deceptively advertised and labeled the speed of DDR4 and DDR5 memory kits sold between January 2018 and January 2026. The company denies all wrongdoing, and the case was not decided in court.

As per documents from the case, the initial class action lawsuit was brought over claims "that G.Skill deceptively advertised and labeled the speed of its DDR-4 and DDR-5 DRAM (non-laptop) memory products with rated speeds over 2133 MHz or 4800 MHz, and that G.Skill is liable for violations of consumer protection statutes and breach of express warranty." Specifically, the lawsuit seems to be about overclocking, noting plaintiffs represented allege "they were lead to believe that the advertised speeds were 'out of the box' speeds requiring no adjustments to their PCs."

Venezuela is sending its first crude oil cargo to Israel in years as the Latin American country’s exports open up following the ~~capture~~ abduction of its president Nicolas Maduro.

The cargo is being transported to Bazan Group, the Mediterranean country’s top crude processor, people with knowledge of the deal said, asking not to be identified because the information isn’t public.

When the cargo arrives, it would mark the first shipment of its kind since mid-2020, when Israel took about 470,000 barrels, according to Kpler data. Bazan, also known as Oil Refineries Ltd, declined to comment. Israel’s energy ministry declined to comment on where the country gets its crude from.

The deal is the latest sign of how the removal of Venezuelan president Maduro from office is routing flows of the country’s oil. Until then, much of the country’s output was sold in China. In the last month cargoes have been sold to buyers in India, Spain, the US and now Israel.

Ngl I kinda miss cable, just for the aspect of being able to choose content based on channel and just let it go

There's a way to replicate it in Plex/Jellyfin by basically building out your own "channels" and having it draw from your own content files, but that's a project in of itself that is on my ever growing project list lmao

Ikr? Lol I haven't run MythTV since I last paid for cable and had a Cablecard sooo about....10+years now lmfao

The Israeli Prison Service has begun preparations to introduce the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners, Israeli media reported on Sunday.

According to Israel's Channel 13, preparations include the creation of a facility dubbed "Israel's Green Mile", where executions will take place

The report added that executions will be carried out by hanging, with three guards pressing the trigger simultaneously.

Specialist teams, composed entirely of volunteers, will be assigned to the task.

Why this random ass latam country has it so good? I don't fkng know, competition probably, as there are many companies fighting for costumers.

Its because of legacy technology debt, the US was "first" to deploy out consumer Internet infrastructure, but that also means before we could deploy each iteration something had/has to be done with the old and that's pricey

Now a developing country deploying internet infrastructure for the first time can deploy straight to fiber because the countries who were first did all the hard work developing the tech and they don't have to worry about ripping out any old infrastructure

Lol I've seen similar pics of that before, I always wondered how the print out actually looks lmao

Is your company hiring?

This was crossposted and is available in the crosspost menu of your client.

Edit: found the exact post, it's the same title and everything: https://sh.itjust.works/post/54438100

For one, I don't really crosspost from any other instances comms (save for the occasion where I know of a fitting small niche comm). For two, that's on an entirely different comm on a different instance ( !lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world vs !funny@sh.itjust.works that this post is on.) Third, I only crosspost from .ml, so the irony here is that the OOP on .ml actually reposted it instead of crossposting lmao

[-] cm0002@europe.pub 41 points 1 week ago

And the idea?

✨AI✨

[-] cm0002@europe.pub 7 points 1 week ago

Why am I cross-posting .ml content?

I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to help vitilize non-.ml comms and make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don't want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some active niche comms.

Megathread on the issue

Some highlights from the link:

.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia https://lemmy.world/post/29222558 The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: https://lemmy.world/post/18236068

"If you don't support Russia then you just don't understand geopolitics" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/27352415

"Don't worry guys, the Uyghur Genocide was REALLY just birth control! ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/30580167

"See! nobody died IN Tiananmen Square, just AROUND it, so it doesn't count!!" ~ Davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/30673342

"NK is actually good and anything counter to that is Western propaganda!" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/31595035

General negative sentiment to other instances who haven't "seen the way" yet ~davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/27426510

And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can't even put them all here because this comment would be really long.

I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda

On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like "Lemmy? Isn't that the place with a bunch of tankies?" Or "Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left". The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.
