Hello comrades and welcome to the third improvement megathread of September! bonfire It's the last day of summer.

Some discussion ideas:

- How was your week?

- Do you have some plans for next week?

+ How was your summer?

+ Do you have some goals or plans for autumn?

The first Soviet radio station was All-Union Radio. Between 1920 and 1922, it used the radio tower in Moscow designed by Vladimir Shukhov. In 1925, the Radio Commission of the Central Committee began supervision of broadcasting in the Soviet Union. The first live, Soviet broadcast took place during the November 1925 funeral of Mikhail Frunze, People's Commissar for Military and Naval Affairs. Approximately 150 "radio enthusiasts" were listening to programs by 1925, and radio clubs were forming across the nation.

By 1927, the Soviet Union had twenty-nine major (state-run) radio stations and programming began to catch-up to Europe and the United States.

In the 1930s, a past-time came into being-- listening to New Year's programs on the family "tarelka" or "tochka", a plate-like receiver. During World War II, radio afforded citizens to hear the voice of their leader, Josef Stalin. By the 1950s, Soviet radio had become formulaic with drab news programs and symphonic music. It was not until the 1960s that broadcasters developed more listening options.

Good week, did ok on the trail run I've been kind of training for. Next week I'll be recovering and starting training for another trail run.

Still working through State and Rev. Language and chess haven't been regular

my weeks have become really numb every since I became unemployed, no energy or rather motivation to continue any other personal project ontop of it, I think I would be a ghoul if not for world building.

Have got no plans, and this summer was particularly fruitless, bad exams, bad results, and my own laziness meant that I barely did anything to even get a new job, my sleep schedule is reversed and most of my personal connections live more than 200km away from me.

I want a job, I need a job, but I feel so weak whenever I think about the idea that I have to actually work at it, with hours beyond what I expect, but I wouldn't really mind it is my guess, if not for the fact that my city doesn't even have jobs anymore, moving out is an option but I failed my exams so I don't even have that.

I probably could've gone about summer in a better way, maybe I should think more positively, I don't know why I even indulged myself to write this. I should sleep.

I realised yesterday that I've had a very active week. On Monday I went on an extremely dangerous hike with my friends where just about everything went wrong and there was a very real chance we would need to be rescued. It was really fun.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I was working. On Friday I went shopping with a friend, then went to a Scouts meeting, which I'm now a leader for. I was in the scouts for ten years, and now I'm a leader and I really like it. I did my first proper bit of activity-running. I now have to be a role model and a real adult, so I have to think more about my own behaviour and how I want to act. I'm in a place where I can develop myself on purpose.

Then Saturday and Sunday I worked some more. Also, I did two workouts this weekend, while in the past month I've had no workout schedule at all. So overall it was a pretty good week.

had a so-so week but i went outside a lot (prob walked ~10 miles total) which im counting as a plus because i almost never go outside lol. also coming out of a recent big psych hospitalization, so honestly doing anything but being stuck in the same hallway has been great doggirl-sweat

my plan for next week is to focus on self-care as much as i can because i have a huge school deadline on the 30th, still working on things so not totally drowning in my work is a priority.

Self Improvement

333 readers
2 users here now

A community which focusses on improving yourself. This can be in many different ways - from improving physical health or appearance, to improving mental health, creating better habits, overcoming addictions, etc.

While material circumstances beyond our control do govern much of our daily lives, people do have agency and choices to make, whether that is as "simple" as disciplining yourself to not doomscroll, to as complex as recreating yourself to have many different hobbies and habits.

This is not a place where all we do is talk about improving "productivity" (in a workplace context) and similar terms and harmful lifestyles like "grindset". Self-improvement here is intended to make you a generally better and happier person, as well as a better communist, and any other roles you may have in your life.

Rules and guidelines:

  1. Posts should be about self-improvement. This is obviously a wide category, and can range from advice, to finding resources, to self-posts about needing to improve in a certain area, or how you have improved, and many other things.

  1. Use content warnings when discussing difficult subjects.

  1. Do not make medical decisions solely because of a discussion you have had with any person here (e.g. whether to take or not take medications; diagnoses; etc.) as we do not vet people. All medical problems should be discussed with a real-life medical professional.

  1. Do not post harmful advice here. If this is seen, then please report it and we shall remove it. If you are unsure about whether it's precisely harmful advice or not but feel uneasy about it, please report it anyway.

  1. Do not insult other users and their lifestyles or their habits (unless they ask, I suppose). This is a place for self-improvement. Critique and discussion about a course of action is encouraged over shit-flinging. Don't talk down to people.
