Heavy statement to say to someone that would lose its life job over dystopian machines, I have friends that are in this cartoon, one with a kiddo. What to say to them ?

Drawing of the artist Jérôme Bosch, in which we see an owl inside a tree surrounded by ears and eyes on the floor, brown color on beige background.

This post is mainly a response to people that have the same needs on reddit, I tried to invite them so please be patient & welcoming !

Just for information, I tried to lpadmin ppd file only, but had a problem with missing filter file, if someone's from debian/ubuntu based distro struggles like me (error shown by cups ui : /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertotmtr not available: No such file or directory) just asks here and I'll give you people the right file I guess.

default install

print !

  • take not that i had specific needs with orientation & custom height/width on my .pdf files, also they were already imposed.
  • if default try a print lp BAT.pdf -o media=Custom.69x65mm -o orientation-requested=5 -o TmtSpeed=4
  • if NOT default try a print : lp -d TM-20-3 BAT.pdf -o media=Custom.69x65mm -o orientation-requested=5 -o TmtSpeed=4

modded installation with speed option ?

I think people do that even in Linux, sometimes problemes are still very hard to solve and reinstalling is just faster, maybe I'm the only one. On another hand there is distro hopping ╮(︶▽︶)╭

isn't supposed to be super high voltage to work ? or maybe this would be super slow ?

Nobody here talks about keepassxc ? I've been using it for almost a decade, it can be used with sync tools to be shared, I've managed to have db keepass file opened on several computers and it did work well. Gplv3 here https://keepassxc.org/

Makes me think of this video of the geneticist Albert Jacquard that tries to show how ideas will always be in the commons. How it's impossible for people to own a concept of an idea, using the example of "it's impossible to tell who saw the rainbow the first to own its concept".

It's in french but it's a total masterclass, I should translate it someday : https://effingo.be/2011/05/22/albert-jacquard-demonte-le-concept-de-propriete-intellectuelle/

Still, 750 is totally not a small company, also they manage and host matrix/element, that are way more edgy in terms of technology, takes a LOT of time only for maintenance if you have bigs rooms :

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Matrix

Choices are not neutrals and I don't know what I would do at their seats, but I think it's a bit sad that mozilla invest more into matrix/element instead political opinion makers like these social network xitter alternatives, fediverse & all <3

Maybe I don't know shit and maybe Mastodon is also a heavy mess to selfhost !

If we want to have the bigger picture we'll also need to read this about rethinkDns :

Is this a free service?

On-device firewall is free. The in-the-cloud Rethink DNS content-blocking resolver has both free (public beta) and paid tiers (private beta). Currently, pricing isn't implemented and so the private beta is essentially also free till then.

From faq : https://rethinkdns.com/faq Not here about arguing, people need to eat and live under a roof ofc, even in foss communities, but I think people need to know about it before installing & be dependant to its (for the moment free) features.
