I heard that it's hard as hell, but now I can't remember if the dev who said it was from Firefox or Chrome.

Did you hear about the ad agency that pushed for the age verification in Australia? They posted gambling ads, and instead of banning the ads, the advertiser pushed for age controls so the issue with kids would be "resolved". Or so I hear. Really, they are probably just trying to control the population and steal data.

I'll throw my phone in the goddamn lake first.

People still use Amazon.

Like the folks buying this legislation are not pedophiles themselves. It is for spying plane and simple.

OpenWRT released a router. Degoogled Fairphone 6 (with MicroG) with e/OS is available in US and uses Murena provider. DNS options with VPNs and domain filters would be cool. Jellyfin instead of Spotify could go under music. Scihub, Gutenberg, and Scidb under books.

This site looks good. Thank you for your contribution! Love it!

Tomato basil soup, not the Campbell's nonsense.

Already getting there. It's hard.

Changed two phone batteries recently. One took a few seconds. The other one with adhesives took an hour of labor just to remove and reapply the adhesive, and I still need to redo it. They made it as shitty as possible to repair. Fuck Samsung.

Big defense companies have been stealing money from taxpayers for decades. Good thing is that at least some people get employment. It's getting worse.

I once pirated my own publication (I lost the original and it was behind paywall). This world is so fucked in every way.

SearxNG instances are not working as well these days and I want something more reliable. I will just pay a subscription. Swiss cows is pushing subscriptions and I'm good with paying. Never tried Kagi.

UPDATE: THIS USES GOOGLE WEB VIEW. DO NOT USE.

I can't figure out why nobody talks about this. I see all kinds of alternative browsers on here, but never this one. I especially like the color coded bookmarks for different categories (my news is gray, my searxng/swisscows and other search engines green, my tech solutions purple). It has anti-fingerprinting and a quick toggle for if you need to quickly adjust javascript or cookie setting to make a quick exception. There are lots of features. If anyone else has tried it, it would be interesting to hear your feedback too.

I have ADB, UAD, and even Shazuku with Canta. However, I tried removing Play Store and Play Services, but got my phone stuck in a boot loop. I have not tried to remove Gemini yet, but fear the same will happen. Insular (Island) will not allow me to move the services out of my persoanl profile, and Shelter will not work at all. Does anyone have a hack for this?

I do not want any Google crap on my device period. I have Samsung Galaxy 25 Ultra that I bought 6 months ago before realizing how ridiculous everything is.

I'm not buying a Pixel because I'm not giving Google any money. I'm in the US so the other OSs will not work for me. I just need this crap off my phone. I can't uninstall Youtube, and it came with Facebook. It's just infuriating. Can I just root it and connect it to my Linux laptop and just force uninstalls or something without bricking the device?

Any help appreciated!

I normally default to SearxNG search engine but sometimes use swisscows.com.

For some reason, if I let FOSS browser remove the tracker portion of the search, it will no longer work. If I allow the tracker to be used, it works every time. I have tried multiple Searx engine instances, and they all seem to have the same issue.

I'm condemned to a week-long meeting soon, and it makes me want to put a shotgun in my mouth to even think about it. What can I do to make it more bearable?

I have so many things I want to do but just can't. Play a video game, read a book, take dog for walk, build a gadget I bought parts for, finish writing a song, finish building a computer... But no, I just sit there stuck. How do I get unstuck?

Does Iphone have something like fdroid that allows installation of cool apps like ones for jellyfin, etc?

I was planning to set transcoding on the M.2 by using a Pi M.2 Hat board. However, since the M.2 is already there, should I just use it to run the OS and downloads, too, or just use it as a transcoding consumable and media drive? This Pi 5 has 16Gb of RAM, so it might handle every bit of the transcoding regardless, but I have not tested it. I'm also concerned about latency between the main Pi board and the hat, connected with a flexible circuit board cable.

Also, anyone have issues with media storage on external drive when using Plex/media servers?

Equipment has been ordered but has not been delivered yet. Should come the next few days.

When I was a kid, I was punished excessively. My diagnosis occurred when I was 25. In the 1980s, I got paddled every day at school and was punished constantly. It made me feel rejected, leading to rejection sensitivity dysphoria. By the time I was 9, I decided life was not worth living and have not changed my mind at 45 years old. I would never have a child to suffer the way I did. I still feel like nobody wants me around. My mental health issues have severely impacted my quality of life. I'm just now figuring out that this might be why I have never felt my clock tick, or thought for even a second of my life that I wanted kids.

Has this happened to anyone else? I wonder how many in this forum might have decided against parenthood due to ADHD effects without realizing it.

Update: Here are the results as of June 12, 2025 ( or at least I think I counted decently):

  • 7 people do not want kids
  • 9 said they have and/or want kids
  • 3 responses did not conclude one way or another

Hope this was helpful, even with small sample sizes. This seems to be close to current statistics. Out of 16 who responded definitively, 7 did not want kids, which is 44%, compared to 47% shown in the statistics. This concludes that no evidence has been found from this post to suggest that ADHD has a significant impact on parenting desires. Further research could better validate the results.

And the share of U.S. adults younger than 50 without children who say they are unlikely to ever have kids rose 10 percentage points between 2018 and 2023 (from 37% to 47%), according to a Pew Research Center survey
