Bonfire, with its direct support for OpenScience features, would be a better alternative
Honestly I'm shocked at the number of people that stayed on twitter. Like... just why? It's zero effort to leave and minimal effort to find another platform.
I realize many people choose not to care who owns the companies that make their stuff. And to be fair, sometimes it's actually worse to throw away the product than keep using it despite the associated image. I still daily drive my Tesla model 3 that I bought in 2019. Throwing away a car creates a shitload of waste, versus just continuing to drive it. I'd never buy another tesla, which solves that issue.
But unlike throwing out a car or even throwing out something with actual value like youtube, ditching Twitter as far as I see has no downside.

I'm curious: have you ever liked Twitter?
Because i could understand not seeing any downside to leaving a site if one has never actually liked it. But, many people liked (and still like) Twitter. I personally have known many interesting people there, and even started some nice in-person friendships. I don't like at all what's become of Twitter; i have it now blocked through the LeechBlock extension so i don't fall into doom/shit scrolling. But i think there's still some good in there. I can totally understand how many people would find it difficult to fully leave; myself included.
Scientists don't have to explain why they're leaving twitter. The reasons should be obvious to anyone familiar with Twitter.
Journalists need to explain why they're still on Twitter, given that platform has so much bots, trolls, hate and lack moderation.
The BBC still uses it to break news, I'm saddened to say.
Legacy racist media supports modern racist website? Shocked.
I never understood why people would want polluted air and water, blows my mind.
Because either money or cult like following.
Because they love and believe their corporate daddies they so worship, especially in the US.
It's so fucking weird
Because it's easier than giving up luxury items
I guess, but I dunno, that still seems dubious to me.

I'm just waiting for Musk to sue all people on earth for either not having an account or for abandoning their account on Twitter.
Musk won of course...
As usual billionaires ~~buy~~ get their way. Too many people that aren't brainwashed "conservatives" on there for his liking so he took it over and now look at where we are...
Anyone with a modicum of intelligence should leave Twitter. It is a cesspool of degenerates now. Best to let it fester and die.
