I thought Clarence and John said voting rights were all good long ago and the feds didn’t need to worry about it anymore?

In this case, voting rights weren't the issue... they just didn't have elections...

Does professor Sherman need to teach another lesson?

The article should be required reading in all American schools.

Do it again, Uncle Sherman.

I remember when this story broke about the elected mayor being squeezed out. Good to see that some amount of justice is taking place, though I’m sure this won’t be the end of pushback from the power-holding white gentry. Insane that they were getting away with this in modern times.

I remember when this happened, and I was stunned. There are only 133 people in the town and the vast majority of them are black, it should have been a self solving problem to throw out the white minority.

Another good article here:

Yeah, it really is one of the most egregious examples of organized racism in the modern era. A white minority of an entire town holding onto power over the black majority by unlawful and unethical practices that they coordinated.

Does anyone know where I can find a time line of this case? I'm really curious how it took four years to litigate something this egregious. Four years to reach a settlement, not even a litigate court ruling.
