All of you would feel much better on a daily basis if you stop obsessing over a guy you can't do a single thing about. You voted. That's about all you can do these days unless you are extremely wealthy.
Constantly making posts about him and getting into a negative circle jerk does nothing for your own sanity. It's legitimately unhealthy behavior.
There is definitely a hyperfixation focused on Trump that he both adores and needs, and there definitely needs to be more focus on his cohorts (the ones that actually wield power, not pseudo influencers like Musk)... but ignoring him for four years won't do anything better. And trying to call people out like you're trying to do is not helping. It just helps further the divide between those on the left (or at least further left than the fence-sitters and "centrists"), which is exactly what Trump and his ilk desire most. Discord between the people who can hurt them most.
I'm not saying to completely ignore the President of the United states. I'm saying that obsessing over him for every waking moment of your existence is doing way more harm to most of these peoples daily happiness than they should be.
Like most things. The extreme ends of "I'm gonna complain about him as much as I possibly can at all times" and "I'm gonna unplug from reality and pretend he doesn't exist" are both terrible.
Probably better to be somewhere in the middle. Be aware of what's going on. Hold firm on your beliefs but be open to being wrong. Don't let it effect your daily existence.
At the end of the day we only have full control over how we choose to spend our energy. These people are choosing to give so much of their time and energy to this situation they really can't do much of anything about. Kinda like I spent too much time on social media arguing with people who are clearly never going to change their minds on anything.

This is true. I don't know how often everyone individually posts and looks at these things. I'm just going off my scroll through the "r/all" (is it just called Lemmy everything or something?) of this site. It's like every other post and in the comments of each post are similar comments all saying variations of the same things.
Considering how Lemmy appears to have a HEAVY left wing bias I feel fairly confident saying that most of the people on this site spend too much time thinking about Trump and interacting with content around how much they hate Trump. However that is a generalization and I shouldn't be doing that.

I would agree with this if it was one person. But this is the Internet so it's a collection of everyone posting stuff. It really could be that one individual posts something about trump twice a month, but with everyone else posting at a similar rate it is "constant," but not the same person. At that point we'd need to have a Trump meeting and decide who gets to post what and when so we don't pile up too much Trump content lol
I totally see your point and I completely agree. There is no way for me to know how much each individual user on this site is posting about or interacting with "Trump bad" content. Just scrolling through the front page or whatever it's called around here it really seems like it's an obsession from multiple people. Somehow more posts about Trump than on that other site which had a comical left lean already. This site from my limited time here seems to be even farther left and almost entirely void of moderate or right leaning voices.
So you can see how I might have gotten the impression that people around here really are obsessed around hating the guy (which I feel I must remind people I do completely understand to an extent).
I saw a post from awhile back where someone asked if this site was a left wing echo chamber and if that was a good idea. The fact that any comment on that thread that was even remotely moderate was downvoted tells me that the grand majority on this site are far left and unwilling to even entertain a single thought that isn't also far left. Which is very sad. Because that's how you lose all perspective and fall into endless echo chambers.
I don't agree with many people around here but I am still very glad that I am able to have conversations with them and hear a perspective besides my own. I used to be further right on some topics, but after talking to people all along the political spectrum I found that I didn't actually agree with my old stance anymore and I changed it.
From what I understand, before the reddit exodus Lemmy was very concentrated with leftists so we have that as the starting point. Those that left reddit generally were on the left as well as they tend to be the types that have more sensitivity to corporate bullshit so "unfortunately," depending on your perspective, Lemmy will definitely be more concentrated with those on the left than elsewhere.
I think the same thing will happen or already has with Blue sky, and whatever tictoks replacement will be. It's pretty sad to see us pretty much self selecting into echo chambers, but it's our sense of morality that drives us to do it, not really a specific desire to want to be in an echo chamber. I can't stand Musk or Fuckerberg so I actively avoid their platforms, but right wingers tend to flock to places that either are openly hostile to those on the left or at least allow/incentivize hate against the left so we end up separating ourselves. I don't come to Lemmy to be away from right wing content, I do it to avoid "helping" Musk, spez, Fuckerberg.
I definitely value trying to understand opposing opinions as well which is why I never block anyone and thankfully haven't had anyone deserving of it for harassment or whatever.
I respect that. I also refuse to block people even I I really don't like them. Only people who spam me or bots ever get blocked. I refuse to silence voices I disagree with because then I'm just bumbling through life completely unaware of an entire perspective which I find unhealthy. Doesn't mean I have to agree with other people's perspectives whatsoever but I am glad that I heard them.
The problem is you're going about advocating moderation in such an extreme way. It's kind of hypocritical. You're not going to shout people into agreeing with you, at least not for any reasonable positions.

I would say the same things to any far right nutjobs that were posting how much they hated all the liberal snowflakes or Joe Biden every day, but those people don't exist on this site. That's a difficult one.
Clinton had a plane downed to keep testimony quiet. Bush had forewarning about 9/11 and chose not to act. He also lied about WMD to invade Iraq. He also purchased the 2000 election with the help of Daddy, Jeb, and Katherine Harris. Obama said the word 'hope' repeatedly, got elected, killed civilians with drone strikes, then accepted a Nobel Peace Prize with a straight face.
Trump is a traitor who committed treason multiple times. He is a lifelong thief, conman, manipulator, sexual assaulter, tax evader, etc.
All of them work with/for the Saudi and Israeli governments

As best as I can tell, the 22nd amendment talks about how no-one can serve more than two terms. It does not, however, give a limit on how long a second term can be.
As such he wouldn't need to touch that particular amendment to retain power, and so I can't accept the bet.
It took a minute to find the right place, but the four-year maximum term length is actually set in Article II section 1 of the Constitution proper.
And now bear in mind that Donnie is quoted as being in favour of "termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution." should the circumstances require it.
He's going to try it. And since he's immune from prosecution, what's going to be done about it if he doesn't leave?
