Tonight's Ask PHLemmy: What was loved by poor people until rich people ruined it?
As a kid, I used to look forward to long holidays because it meant that we're going to the province (La Union) and stay in our ancestral home for almost a week. That meant clean air, pitch black darkness at night, there's only one or two groceries good enough for what you need, peace and quiet, sprinkled by walking for 15-20 minutes crossing acres of land (navigating aggressive flocks of geese or askals, seeing carabaos grazing) just to get to the beach where there's only a handful of people.
Ngayon wala na. We couldn't even park our car in front of our house because they paved the roads surrounding it and blocked entry. In its place are restaurants, coffee shops, hotels, rave bars, lights, noise, garbage. I also see 1 or 2 star reviews calling our beach overrated. Hey, it's not our fault that you came here thinking it was going to be Boracay. It's the murkiest and saltiest seawater, and I love it for that.
Sakahan na tineyk-over ng SM, Robinsons, Villar para tayuan ng property nila
Ako lang ba na-weirduhan sa logic nung neighbor that decided to go on FB Live to broadcast the burning house and yell help on passing tricycles instead of calling the fire department directly?
Edit: This is the news report that used the video. Hindi ko na mahanap yung other version with the audio of him crying and yelling at anyone passing by.
I think these days, posting online or going live is asking for help. If I think my life is being threatened, I'd go live on FB, not necessarily para makita ng mundo kung paano napatay at matraumatize yung makapanood, but para may clue kung sino ang pumatay. Dagdag data set na din yun to train the AI, like this post. Ganun na ang panahon ngayon.
That makes sense (like documenting an assault or a crime already in progress for evidence), but in this specific case it didn't.
A video wouldn't assist in a fire investigation because SOCO could tell just by being on the scene afterwards the origin, manner of death, scale, etc. Most importantly, as the neighbor across the house, he had better information that could help coordinate directions to the location faster. Sabi kasi sa news, na-delay pagpunta nung mga rumeresponde kasi mali address nabigay. That's the likely outcome when you have guys in FB (or tricycle drivers who are just passing through) doing the call for you instead of yourself.
It's scary na ganyan na nga realidad ngayon, na pag may medical emergency ivivideo ako or something more impractical. It's worse than Kitty Genovese. Although when I think about it, I don't even know the number to the fire department! lol.
i would not consider it lack of logic, rather, it is an indication of the people's lack of confidence in govt agencies.
Damn, I thought I was the only one.
It feels awful to be super busog hayy
Slovenia got blown out by Germany, which doesn't help them bracket-wise. As predicted, the team isn't really going anywhere with Luka and hobbled roster with a bunch of scrubs.
