I think it has more to do with the lack of democracy, especially in the US. I guarantee you could get 100 regular Joes in a room to come up with a high speed rail project. You could never get that to happen with politicians at the mercy of the ruling class.
There have to be people living in capsule hotels in Japan. There are people in Japan living in computer cafes, where the lights are on 24/7. Japan isn't all sunshine and roses. Tons of people barely hanging on and these cheap ass places let them have at least some sort of dignity. If you work any job in Japan, odds are you'll have a roof over your head. Same can't be said in the US, where many homeless people have jobs and can't afford to be protected from the elements.
If we could change politics by voting, we wouldn't be allowed to vote.
We're not stretched thin to finance these changes. Taxes aren't holding us back. This is what those with true power in society and their cronies say to not do anything. This is the whole point.
No one is only blaming "billionaires." This is you patronizing them, portraying yourself as a genius and the person you're responding to as too naive and stupid to understand how life really works.
And no, we don't have agency. We have a deluded sense of agency where we think we can vote and change the system from within.
Cops definitely murdered this man.
Don't you people have something better to do than unironically doing the ackchyually meme? Follow the fucking post and its fucking intent, you fucking internet weirdos. You're not as smart as you think you are.
Once they hired that former cop who bragged about using these RPI's for "legal" surveillance police operations, I was done with them. This goes completely against the DIY spirit. There are so many better options out there without cops and without snarky Twitter social media managers.
She's going to start a GoFundMe and get like $500k and walk away wealthy. I hate how fucked up our society is.
She's right. Blue states should consider it. I don't think blue staters in these comments realize how close abortion is to being illegal nationwide.
"Roe v. Wade will never be overturned, that'll turn the country into a warzone!!"
"States will never actually ban abortion, that'll turn states into warzones!!"
Yet here we are.
This startrek.website site loads like 15% of the time for me. It's really annoying.
If everyone who said they were going to do this actually did this, Chrome wouldn't do this, if that makes sense.
I really loved IMDb back in the day. While the user ratings weren't perfect, there used to be a formula you could use to figure out the worthiness of a movie to watch. Now (10 years or so), IMDb user ratings are inundated with conservatives and older generations who tend to rate based on their fragile feelings rather than on how watchable a movie is.
Half of Republicans think Michelle Obama is trans. It's a race thing.
